Madame Chairman's Conference Welcome

2016 Chair - Amy McLeod

Mississippi State Department of Health

The time is fast approaching for the Section’s 70th Annual Conference at the beautiful Grand Hotel Resort and Spa in Point Clear, Alabama. Registration is open so head on over to our Online Registration link to register.  Paper forms and hotel registration information are listed on the 2017 Conference Registration page.

Our planning committee has done an outstanding job preparing our conference activities this year. We’re going to start off Sunday evening at The Grand’s Julep Pointe with an area DJ providing music and then leading us in some generational trivia.  Make sure you hang around after dinner to compete for some cash prizes.  On Monday, we’ll present some deserving students some scholarships and we’ll recognize outstanding people and facilities.  Kristin Scroggin will unite the young and old(er) in our group with some generational motivation.

Our Program is shaping up to be another year of multifaceted topics.  We strive to have something for everyone to enjoy listening to.  Tuesday we will offer an off-site plant tour.  We’ll have a bus to transport you there and back, so make sure to sign up.

We are in our third year of offering the Mini-Excavator competition.  We’ll be outside, right next to the conference center’s brick patio.  The brick patio will also host our Tuesday ice cream social as well as the Pipe Tapping and Meter Madness competitions.

We’ll close up the conference events on Tuesday night with our banquet, where our visiting National Representative, Stephen Blankenship, will present this year’s Fuller Award for distinguished service to the water supply field. Intermingled with the banquet formalities, we’ll be entertained by a murder mystery dinner theater group out of Mobile.  Keep your eyes peeled to see if you can figure out whodunit!

Make sure you like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter so that you’re always up to date with all the Section happenings.  We’re looking forward to seeing you all in October!
